After gushing reviews, plaudits from American politicians and awards for the guy who wrote the software, it transpires that a closed-source piece of software designed to keep Iranians safe and able to surf the web didn't work properly. What a surprise. I read a profile of Austin Heap in Wired a few weeks ago and couldn't help wondering if this guy had ever actually left Silicon Valley, let alone the US...
