Ticking things off the list by launching websites

I really like it when a project you’ve been working on for a while comes to fruition. It’s also nice to feel that the job has been done, that you can tick it off the list. In this spirit, I’m really pleased to have launched two websites I’ve been working on for the last few months.

The first is one for our church, Tavistock Methodist Church. I’m really excited about this, because it now has a really easy-to-use content management system for the publicity team to keep the site up to date. This has opened up all sorts of opportunities for frequently-updated content – including a podcast of sermons which we’ll enjoy listening to when we’re in Uganda. If you’re technically inclined, it’s running Radiant CMS (a ruby application) on a Slicehost server: a powerful combination.

Today, I’ve also uploaded the latest version of shanebeales.com – a showcase website for our great friend (and excellent musician) Shane Beales. He’s recording for a major record label next week – we’re looking forward to hearing great things in the next few months. His site is running the Textpattern blogging engine (which also powers this site), and does some neat things with iframes and javascript to allow you to listen to the songs while browsing the site.

It’s nice to tick things off the list. Even if the list seems to keep growing – writing this article has diverted me from what I’m supposed to be doing this afternoon: packing boxes.
