How to download the videos we put on our website

2 November 2008 (06.35 PM)

It occurs to me that you might like to download the videos we put online, to play offline or burn to CD / DVD. We host the videos on the wonderful Vimeo, where it’s easy for you to download. They’re all .mov (quicktime) files – there are a number of free players (including Quicktime, naturally) which will play this format.

There’s one (small) wrinkle. You need to create a free Vimeo account to get the download. It’s very painless and completely free – just enter your name, email and password and you’re in. I have no qualms recommending that you do this – in my experience the site is well built, easy to use and they haven’t sent me a single unsolicited email.

Once you’ve done that, navigate to the video page and the download link is on the bottom right. Here are the links to the videos we’ve created so far. In future, I’ll include the link with the video I embed on the site.

Not quite as straightforward as I’d hoped, but pretty easy nevertheless. Hope you find them useful!

It is pretty easy to sign up, and doesn’t matter if you forget your password, easy enough to redo – says she, speaking from experience! And when I’m back on my own laptop I’ll have a go at downloading . . . exciting for a total computer idiot like me!
